Halcyon Lighting Group
Lighting the Way to Smarter, Leaner Pallet Wrapping

Understanding the Challenge

Halcyon Lighting Group is one of Australia’s leading names in exterior architectural lighting. At their Cheltenham facility, they assemble premium German-engineered luminaires for the Australian and New Zealand markets. Their despatch team had been wrapping pallets with 20-micron cast machine film for years, on the assumption that a heavier film meant safer loads.

They were paying for thickness they didn’t need. Their fragile, high-value products needed dependable containment, but the 20µm film was heavier than the job required. It also cost more, came with regular supplier increases, and used more plastic per roll than necessary. This ran against Halcyon’s environmental goals.

The Solution

We started with a free on-site assessment of their pallet profiles, wrap settings, and load stability. Based on what we found, we recommended a switch to our 17-micron high-performance film. Because stretch film is all we do, we operate efficiently and at scale, and pass those savings on to our customers. The 17µm is thinner but tough. It holding loads just as securely as the old film while covering more pallets per roll.

We handled the changeover from start to finish, with no downtime on their line and no drop in the load security their product demands.

The Results

• Thinner film, same security. The move from 20µm to 17µm held up across live despatch runs
• Lower cost per pallet from the lighter gauge, better stretch, and sharper pricing that comes from doing one thing well
• Fewer rolls used since each roll covers more pallets, which also means fewer changeovers
• Less plastic per load, supporting Halcyon’s sustainability goals
• Same-day dispatch from our Melbourne base, so there’s no need to hold stock
• Guaranteed savings locked in, protecting Halcyon from market price swings

The Partnership

We questioned the idea that thicker always means safer, then proved it with hands-on testing. The result was a leaner, greener, more cost-effective way for Halcyon to wrap. The lesson is simple: the right film beats more film every time.
